Line oven rack with foil and place rack in lowest oven position. Tofu vinegar either malt or apple cider liquid smoke hot sauce soy sauce honey veg oil garlic salt salt and pepper.
Arrange on trays and dehydrate at mredium high until firm and crispy round edges.
Tofu jerky in oven. You want long thin strips. Let the meat dry in the 170 oven for 4 5 hours or until beef becomes dry and leathery. Set another plate on top and put a weight on top of the plate such as a can to press.
If you live in a sunny hot dry climate you can sun dry it outdoors. Mix all other ingredients. In a medium bowl stir together the soy sauce maple syrup liquid smoke garlic powder black pepper barbeque sauce and brown.
Mix all the other ingredients together. Place tofu into dehydrator for about 8 hours or until tofu becomes dark brown and jerky looking. Cut the tofu into very thin slices between 1 4 and 1 8 of an inch shooting for 1 8 inch.
This will take 4 to 8 hours depending on the weather. Heat the oven to 225 f. Then cut each half the long way into slices a bit thicker than 1 8 inch you should have about 28 slices total and lay them on the parchment it s preferable if they re touching.
Marinate tofu in this mixture for about about 2 hours. Periodically move tofu around in mixture to be sure all tofu gets marinated. It will take all day.
Too thick and they ll take forever to bake then. Arrange beef strips in single layer on wire racks placed on 15x10x1 in. Arrange the tofu in a single layer in a shallow baking pan or cookie sheet and pour the marinade.
Cut the cube of tofu horizontally into four pieces and then slice it into strips i had a total of 12. Drain cut and marinate. Place tofu block between paper towels on a plate.
Slice in half drizzle a few drops of a quality balsamic vinegar reduction thick works best add 2 or 3 large grains of course himalayan salt or equivalent but coarse is best. Prepping for the oven. Drain excess liquid may be reused and dry tofu in a food dehydrator or warm 200 degrees f home oven.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon mat. Preheat oven to 115 degrees f 45 degrees c or lowest oven setting. If you have one handy you can instead use a commercial dehydrator following manufacturer s directions.
The strips should be about 4 millimeters. Be sure to rotate the pans occasionally. Stir the remaining ingredients together in a small bowl and brush half of the mixture over the tofu slices.
Cut the block of tofu in half through the equator and blot the halves dry. Drain the tofu and pat it dry. We dehydrate cherry tomatoes and they are killer portable scrumptious and so versatile.
Step 4 place tofu strips directly on foil. Slice tofu about 1 8 thick.
